London Marathon 2025 · 27 April 2025 ·

Our vision is a world where every child and young person survives cancer. For the last 35 years, we’ve been working tirelessly to fund much needed research into childhood cancer.

Story

Who we are:

We are a group of medical students raising money in aid of Children with Cancer UK. Six of us will be training for and running the London Marathon 2025 in April, and as a wider group we are hoping to run events and take on challenges throughout the coming months to raise awareness for the charity.

What we are doing:

We plan to do set challenges, such as the weekly parkrun (thematic dressing up and more), a 5k-a-day for a month, a 24 hour spinathon and an open water swim. We also hope to raise money through events such bake sales, busking and spreading awareness in the nearby hospitals. This will be alongside getting prepped for the big run in April!

Why we are doing it:

Asides from being a group who appreciates a good challenge, we are aware of the pain that those with cancer and their loved ones face - which we have seen in our families, friends, and hospital placements. It's a privilege that we can contribute in any way to a cause that funds critical research, supports patients, and brings hope to families.

About the charity:

Children with Cancer UK has funded research into the causes of childhood cancers. They develop better, kinder treatments as well as funding initiatives that support children and their families through cancer treatment and beyond. Their work has contributed significantly to a marked increase in childhood cancer survival rates and improved quality of life for patients.
