Story
I'm running 26.2 miles for Tempus Novo!
That’s right, a full marathon for this not so competent runner. Think less Eliud Kipchoge, and more a determined sloth on its first cup of coffee - progress is made, but it’s more about the journey than the pace.
There’s an important reason, or two, for taking this challenge on.
I have come to know and love - Tempus Novo (TN).
I’ve been deeply inspired by Steve and Val, founders of the charity, since Saf and I met them in 2022.
Not only have we been trusted to tell their story through social media. We’ve also seen first hand the lives they’ve changed, and continue to change on a daily basis.
The charity is on the verge of achieving a monumental feat. Soon to have placed their 1000th ex-offender into sustainable employment.
When writing this post, I thought about the audience I was writing too. In most cases, we’re the lucky ones. Born in environments that have led us with strong values, love and opportunity.
The people TN offer support to have in many cases never had that first chance in life, never mind a second one. Outcast for their past transgressions, their punishment lingers around long after their release. It’s often their families that pay the biggest price.
I’ve seen messages from service users describing how for the first time they’ve been able to buy their family Christmas presents now they’ve been supported into employment by TN. That’s the life changing impact this charity has.
To change the world, you must first change a life.
It’s my ambition to, even in a small part, do that for someone out there.
Any donations are gratefully received and create immense value for society
