Keith's 1,000km Challenge

Keith Burge is raising money for James' Place Charity

1000k run from the Thames to the Tyne via Sustrans Route 1 · 23 April 2026

We stop men dying by suicide. Since opening in 2018, we’ve helped more than 5,100 suicidal men access free, life-saving therapy at our centres in Liverpool, London and Newcastle. 75% of deaths by suicide are men, but suicides are preventable. Donate today to help save lives.

Story

In the UK, suicide is the leading cause of death for men under 50. James' Place is on a mission to address this by providing free, life-saving therapy. And so, in order to raise money for this tremendous charity and awareness about the work that it does, I shall be attempting to run 1,000 km from the Thames to the Tyne via NCN Route 1. That's 2 marathons a day for 12 days, which may prove overly-ambitious. But, between us, we might just save a man's life.

The itinerary is below. Places with an asterisk are those where I am still looking for overnight accommodation (in any form). If you can help please send an email to: burgekeith@gmail.com.
