Story
Since I ran my first marathon in 2018, I’ve completed 11 marathons and am on a multi-year journey through the World Marathon Majors. This series now comprises seven races—Tokyo, Boston, London, Sydney, Berlin, Chicago and New York City—which together represent some of the most admired marathons on the planet.
I’ve already completed 6 of those 7 Majors, and in 2026 I’ll be running Cape Town in May and Sydney in August—with Sydney dedicated to raising funds for the Alzheimer Society of Ireland. Both the Cape Town Marathon and the Shanghai Marathon are being evaluated to become future World Marathon Majors, with plans for expansion in the coming years.
This cause is deeply personal. My mother-in-law is living with dementia, and seeing the impact of this disease on someone you love is devastating. Dementia doesn’t just affect the person diagnosed—every day is a challenge for families and carers too.
Training for a marathon tests the body and mind, but the real marathon is lived by those affected by dementia every day.
The Alzheimer Society of Ireland provides vital support, advocacy and information services to families navigating this heartbreaking journey. Your donation—no matter the amount—helps ensure that people affected by dementia don’t have to walk this path alone.
If you’re able to support my run, thank you. Every euro you give turns every mile I run into real support and hope for families affected by dementia.
Thank you for your generosity.
