Story

I'm running in the Great Bristol run 10k for Bible Society on Sunday 11th May!

Today (26th April) is a special 1st anniversary (see below and the photos, you may even see yourself or someone you recognise there!)

I really enjoy running because it reminds me of the greater race of life we are all in. One of my favourite Bible verses, Hebrews 12:1,2 encourages us to RUN with perseverance the race marked out for us, looking unto JESUS, the pioneer and FINISHER of our faith, who for the joy set before him endured the CROSS…. and now we can celebrate his RESURRECTION - offering us NEW LIFE in Him!

So I thank God for all of you who are sponsoring me and/or the other runners. Together we can help children like Mayra. Mayra lives in Guatemala city, in an area plagued by gangs and violent crime. Open the Book volunteers came to her school to share Bible stories every week and now she feels a sense of hope and purpose. She says, ‘Hearing the Bible stories has inspired me to be a better person.’ May she grow in her relationship with Jesus, our Saviour!

Bible Society's vision is a world where everyone trusts the Bible and encounters its life-giving power. Because of that, when you support Bible Society you can translate the Bible and make it accessible to millions in their heart languages. You can bring it into public spaces where its voice can be heard. You can tell its stories to thousands of children. You can encourage people who've never thought the Bible was for them to explore it for themselves.

In April last year a handwritten copy of the four Gospels, penned by the people of York, including children from local schools, was presented to the Lord Mayor of York. The original handwritten Gospels had been sent to Buckingham Palace as a coronation gift for HM King Charles III. Each school that took part received a special letter of thanks from the Palace.
