Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
From August 6-14th, I'll be taking on a 560-mile ride across New York State with three other intrepid team mates, cycling from Buffalo to New York City along the Empire State Trail in support of the American Heart Association.
This ride marks the 20th anniversary of our first Team Buzz ride in 2006 through France, and the 17th anniversary of the second in 2009 through Italy. While it's a chance to celebrate two decades of friendship and adventure, it's also an opportunity to remember why we started riding together in the first place.
In 2005, one of my lifelong friends lost his sister to an undiagnosed cardiac arrhythmia. Around the same time, another close college friend lost her brother to the same condition. These devastating and unexpected losses highlighted how little many of us knew about the risk of sudden cardiac death in otherwise healthy adults.
Twenty years later, we're getting back on our bikes—not just to relive an unforgettable journey, but to help raise awareness of Sudden Adult Death Syndrome (SADS) and support the life-saving research, education, and advocacy carried out by the American Heart Association.
Over approximately 560 miles, we'll pedal across New York from the shores of Lake Erie to the streets of Manhattan. Every mile is dedicated to remembering those we've lost, supporting families affected by sudden cardiac conditions, and helping to fund work that can improve diagnosis, prevention, and treatment so that fewer families experience these tragic losses.
If you're able, please consider making a donation. Every contribution, no matter the size, helps support the American Heart Association's mission to create longer, healthier lives through groundbreaking research, education, and community programs.
Thank you for your support, encouragement, and for helping us raise awareness of a cause that remains as important today as it was 20 years ago.
