My son had cornet lessons through Sheffield Music Hub from primary school through to GCSE. We could pay for the lessons, and wider family bought an instrument. But not every family is in that position. Sheffield Music Hub offers bursaries to enable children and young people to have access to their music groups all year round, and to have lessons. They can attend as many groups as they like for £210 a year.

The bursary programme costs £7,000 a year and supports young people across the city. Friends and Volunteers of Sheffield Music Hub fund these bursaries, so by supporting my run, you are enabling children and young people to learn and play music. Of course, costs are rising, resources are limited, and the Sheffield Music Hub does not want to say no to a child or young person who wants to make music.

Music bursaries nurture talent, build confidence, and open doors to opportunities.

So to open those doors that were opened for my son, I am running the Sheffield 10k. If I can raise £210, that is one bursary, £420 would be two... and so on! Thank you for your support and for making learning to play a possibility for more children and young people.
