I'm raising money for The Church of Our Lady St Mary, South Creake and Norfolk Churches Trust.

Individual Church of England churches are not 'funded' by the Church centrally - they are funded solely by their congregations and activities. In fact, to sustain both their buildings and having active incumbent clergy, individual churches need to annually raise sufficient funds for necessary work as well as what is called a parish share which is paid to the central church and from which the clergy are then paid.

South Creake is part of a benefice of 6 churches in North Norfolk - The Creakes Benefice - all overseen by Fr Clive Wylie and I will be raising money to assist in the church and benefice meeting its annual expenses, including its parish share.

I'll be cycling a circuit of all 6 churches from my home in Hempton to Sculthorpe, Waterden, South Creake, North Creake, Syderstone and Barmer, and then back to Hempton, a total of about 48km. I'm borrowing a bike from Active Fakenham for which I thank them.

The money raised is split between Our Lady St Mary, South Creake and the Norfolk Churches Trust which supports churches and chapels in the county who are struggling to maintain and conserve their buildings, so that they can be kept open for everyone to enjoy.
