MPN Voice leads the way in supporting people with rare blood cancers called Myeloproliferative Neoplasms (MPNs), with accurate information and emotional support. We're funding research toward better treatments and one day a cure. Most importantly we offer hope to those affected by MPNs.

Story

On 6th September 2025 I will be taking part in the 100km South Coast Ultra Challenge 2025 in support of MPN Voice- Guy’s Cancer Charity.

MPN Voice (Guy’s Cancer Charity) is a charity very close to home, as they have helped me and my family, following my diagnosis of an MPN and I continue to have treatment under Guy’s Hospital and Cancer Centre.

MPN’s are rare blood cancers, that strike at the bone marrow, destabilising the body’s mechanism for controlling blood cell levels. The diseases can rocket blood cell counts up, or push counts down to extremely low levels as well as the risk of going on to develop aggressive disease course or acute leukaemia. MPN’s can trigger serious health problems unless properly treated and controlled. MPN’s can be managed but not cured at this time.

MPN Voice supports patients, families and friends with factual information, disease and drug information leaflets, patient forums both face to face and virtual. They also run buddy programmes to help patients.

MPN Voice also supports research that helps with development of new drugs and hopefully one day a cure. Treatment options are limited and I’ve been told that there are no other available treatments options to help stabilise my blood counts and condition. In hope to achieve a better response I’ve been put on a high dose targeted treatment as well as chemotherapy, which together cause unpleasant side effects and issues. However hopefully one day they will be able to find alternative treatments options or even a cure with more funding to support drug research.

As you can imagine, MPN’s can have a massive impact on patients’ lives through the disease symptoms, complications and treatment side effects that significantly impact their quality of life

MPN voice offer hope to those affected by this rare blood cancer.

Please support me in my 100km South Coast Ultra Challenge 2025 , which in turn will support this fantastic charity. This will be my biggest challenge yet and I am aiming to complete it under 24 hours.
