My name is Kelly Anderson. I am 37 years old and a mum to three wonderful children.
November 2022 I was diagnosed with bowel cancer my polyp was 0.2 mm from progressing to the next stage.
Action was needed with no delay.
There was two options for me
1- radio and chemotherapy with medium possibility of surgery
2- surgery with low possibility of radio therapy
There was only one option that was clear to me and that was surgery.
I underwent surgery in January my surgeon was amazing he removed the whole of my bowel and replaced it with a stoma, no radiotherapy was needed
I was monitored often and closely over the next three years as there is a higher chance of secondary cancer. My results were safe for first two years but I wasn’t so lucky the third year round. A test result came back showing abnormalities. I had further testing and received the amazing news I was given the all clear.
This would not have been possible Without previous research so I have taken the Opportunity to help and support macmillam cancer research I have booked a sponsored skydive for 15 may
