Story

Want to join me in supporting a good cause? I'm walking 1K a day in February for Dementia UK and I'd be so grateful for your support. I know this isn't far but for those who know me well, you know how unfit I am so it will be a challenge to fit this in every day!

My wonderful mother-in-law has been diagnosed with vascular dementia for which there is currently no cure. As a family, we are facing new challenges and trying to support Anna, as well as my father-in-law who cares for her full-time.

By 2025, it's estimated that over 1 million people will be diagnosed with dementia in the UK.

Dementia UK is the specialist dementia nurse charity. Our nurses, called Admiral Nurses, provide life-changing care to families affected by all forms of dementia, including Alzheimers disease. They help people with dementia stay independent for longer, and support the people caring for them so they have the strength to cope with the bad days, and the energy to enjoy the good days. They have the time to listen and the knowledge to solve problems, helping families take back control when they are struggling.

There are only 400 of these nurses to support around 944,000 people living with dementia. This is a huge and growing crisis that needs urgent attention and a better understanding and awareness of the reality of dementia.

Whether you donate £5 or £500, every little bit helps families facing dementia and we really appreciate your support. Thank you!
