Our aim is to preserve and protect good health of people suffering from Aspergillosis by: - • Raising awareness of aspergillosis and increase the understanding of the condition amongst medical professionals and the public at large; • Supporting sufferers globally by providing information and creating real and virtual support networks for sufferers of the most common forms of the disease; • Circulating up-to-date information about the condition with all forms of aspergillosis and help them understand the disease and treatments; • Raising funds for research, with the aim of making aspergillosis far more readily recognisable than at present; • Via joint initiatives, educate healthcare professionals of the symptoms and treatment of aspergillosis as it is often missed and can take years to reach the correct diagnosis; and • Represent aspergillosis patients in wider lung health networks.

Story

My Dad My Hero

As I’ve said before what started as a way to cope and to deal with grief after losing my dad I started running .

I use running as a way to cope with it all and while the world around me seemed normal, I was slowly drowning in grief , I use this time to release the tears and there’s have been lots of them on my running journey … my anger at grief .…I use that to get me through the long runs 😂 my anxiety and coping with a different life, running helps me so much.

Life has changed now and I never forget about dad, I think about him every single day but I smile now because I know he is with me and watching over us all. 🥰

In our dad’s words “ Go and have fun “ and that is what we are all trying to do . ( I’m having so much fun running 😂)

Growing up I would always watch the London Marathon, I just loved how humbling it was ,when I was little I remember dad would always say “ I wonder how many times around this living room it would take to do 26.2 miles 😂

Every year, I never miss watching it on the TV and every year it makes me cry 😂 and every year I will always say “I would love to run the London Marathon” we even went to London to watch MO Farah's last marathon and its even better being there seeing it live the atmosphere is amazing.

So….here is a sentence I never thought I’d write …..

...... I'm running the London Marathon OMG !!!!

In Memory of my lovely Dad and trying to raise awareness for this silent disease and for a very small charity that is close to our hearts.

Aspergillosis Trust

As most of you know over the last couple of years I have had the honour of running for The Aspergillosis Trust, having now done 2 half marathons for them raising money for the charity and spreading awareness.

I emailed the charity last year whilst training for the London Landmarks and asked if they had any spaces for the London Marathon for me to be considered.., never in a million years did I think they would say yes.

It has always been an honour to run for this charity and the fact that they believe in me is just amazing, I am so proud to help this fantastic cause. They only have 2 spaces available and they have given 1 to me 🥰

Last year they used some of the money raised to write a book, to help families with small children understand in a child friendly way about the disease "Dad and the Sneaky Spores" this can be purchased on amazon.

Please see link below if would like to purchase a copy all money will go to the charity.

They are now out and about raising awareness in local towns and schools spreading awareness.

This is going to be the hardest challenge of my life and believe me this is going to test every emotion, mental strength and courage i have.

if I can create awareness, and this can help another family, then my job is done and I will be happy that all this hard work has paid off.

Thank you for taking the time to read my story 🥰

Lots of love

Kelly
