Story
My Mum lost her life to the bawbag that is Bowel cancer back in 2018, at age 64. After 6 years of treatment and surgeries, including chemo and radio therapy, brain surgeries and bowel surgery, she succumbed to this terrible thief of a disease at home, surrounded by her family. I have not forgotten the treatment she received from many NHS facilities and the care taken to try and give my mum a few extra years. For 8 years I have been without my mum. Without her advice, without her fun and humour, her beautiful voice, her Lynn death stare, and more importantly, her advice and admonishments regarding my questionable and somewhat unruly behaviour on occasion.
I know I have already asked so much of my friends and family this years and last with regards fundraising for charities, but Please, if you can spare a pound or 2 I would hugely appreciate it.
So I am asking once again, cap in hand, for a few pounds to go towards another cancer related charity. Not the research side this time, the treatment side.
I am not in any training regime, not a member of a gym, and am just going to do this on my own and see how I get on. If anyone wants to join me at all then please do.
So in memory of my Mum, Us Mother, and for all of the other people who have been treated, or who may be treated at Rosemere in the future...possibly even me.... This is for you.
1 in 2 of us will get the shithead cancer.... that's a scary statistic.
Approximately 70,000 people in Lancashire and South Cumbria are currently living with cancer.
The money that Rosemere Cancer Foundation raises, with the help of people like you, supports pioneering, local clinical research projects; cutting-edge equipment; specialist training; and innovative, life-changing welfare projects for the benefit of these patients wherever they are cared for across the region, now and in the future.
