Story
On 24 May 2026, I’ll be taking part in the Great West Run, in aid of Hospiscare.
As you all know, my Wonderful Husband , Simon, spent the last few hours of his life here, after a 4 year battle to Bowel Cancer. He was only 37 when he died, and 13 months on, we really are in the depth’s of grief. The one thing I do find peace with though, is that the last few hours of Simon’s life, he was comfortable and out of pain which was because of the wonderful people in Hospice. They were also amazing to myself, telling me everything I needed to know, so empathic and gentle. I will always be thankful for this .
I started running in 2021, not long before Si was diagnosed with Cancer, and I have been on and off between diagnosis, hospital stays and Simon passing.
I have recently started again for myself, to clear my head and help keep myself fit, but it is a challenge with the girls and working, SO I have decided to sign up to a Half Marathon, with all money going towards Hospiscare.
However hard I think training is, it will never be anything like what Simon went through and he stayed so positive all thw way through- he will definitely be so proud of me for doing this.
Please help make a difference by giving whatever you can. Anything makes a massive difference.
Thankyou 💚
