Story

Our best friend Emma sadly lost her dad, Jeff, at St Michael's Hospice.

Emma is one of the kindest, most generous people we know, and she is so much like her dad. We are incredibly lucky to call her our friend. If there's anything we can do to make her journey through grief even a little easier, we will.

Jeff fought cancer three times with incredible strength and determination. Sadly, in December last year, he became very unwell and was admitted to St Michael's Hospice for end-of-life care. Jeff had a huge personality and touched the lives of so many with his kindness, warmth, and zest for life. He leaves an enormous hole in the hearts of his family and friends, but he will never be forgotten. He was a true gentleman who always had a story to tell and a smile on his face.

Although Jeff spent only his final 24 hours at St Michael's Hospice, the care he and his family received was exceptional. From the doctors, nurses, carers and reception staff, everyone showed such kindness and compassion. During one of the most heartbreaking times of their lives, the whole family was made to feel welcome, comfortable and supported.

The comfort of knowing your loved one is safe, cared for and treated with dignity makes an immeasurable difference, and that meant everything to Emma and her family.

That's why it's such an honour for us to lace up our trainers and run in support of St Michael's Hospice. We want to celebrate Jeff's life and memory while raising much-needed funds so the hospice can continue providing the incredible care and support that so many families rely on.

Running certainly doesn't come naturally to either of us—we're definitely not the fastest! But running for our best friend Emma, in memory of her amazing dad, and for a cause that means so much to her is all the motivation we need.

If you're able to support us, no matter how big or small the donation, we would be so grateful. Every contribution will help St Michael's Hospice continue its incredible work and will mean the world to us.

Thank you so much for your kindness and generosity.
