I’m spending a night sleeping rough to raise money for The Wellspring in Stockport.

I’m lucky to have a home. Not everyone does.

I spent 14 years writing for The Big Issue North and saw homelessness up close. Two of my younger brothers have also slept rough.

I know that one night sleeping without a roof over my head can't truly reflect reflect the reality of homelessness.

The experiences of those individuals supported by The Wellspring are deeply complex and unique to every individual.

But the Sleepout will give me a moment to reflect — to consider, even briefly, the challenges faced by people sleeping rough — and raise some much-needed money for this vital Stockport charity.
