Story

✨✨✨✨ FRIDAY 8th SETPEMBER UPDATE ✨✨✨✨

Well bloody hell. Thank you so much to every special one of you who supported our challenge this month. From the pennies in the pot to our lovely gym for running fitness challenges on our behalf, to my amazing mum for walking all her miles and most of all to Kel for beasting me, holding me to account and ‘encouraging’ other friends to join the cause and make up the miles I can’t yet do (clearly only because I’m a distraction danger to drivers in my excellent choice of spandex street wear).

Your support has been incredible . I can’t believe we set out to raise 10% of the cost of a days’ research and between us we’ve now funded nearly a day and a half. Unbelievable, imagine if that’s the day we get a breakthrough. I decided to do this after the incredible support received from my lifelong friend Bry and her husband - who just so happens to be a consultant neurosurgeon. Their support was essential in those first few days of diagnosis and I asked what I could do to give back. After I sent them a hamper of cheese, 200 jelly sweets shaped like brains and numerous random purchases whilst I was on steroids, oh and probably 3 love letters. Bry suggested I raise money for further research instead. So that’s what we’ve done.

Aside from the money raised, the kindness, compassion and messages received since I reluctantly let this out on FB has been unbelievable. I can’t believe

1. That many people remember me

2. That many people still like me enough to donate and also send me a message 🤣

It’s been lovely to have all your support, thank you.

Lastly, I will never forget I was one of the lucky 50% who survived and I will forever be grateful for wake up each day. I hope we can help someone else feel that. Thank you 🙏

Max's Story ♥

As most of you will know my dearest Friend Max was hit out of the blue with a life changing event.

No symptoms, no crucial signs of anything wrong but back in November a seizure at our Gym car park changed everything.

Max is a 'cup half full' rather than a 'cup half empty' kind of girl and through this whole journey she has blown us away with her resilience and positivity. We are all so very fortunate to call her our Friend and we are all so grateful to the Team who kept our amazing Friend on this planet ♥

From Max ♥

When I woke up from surgery to remove a brain tumour I promised myself that I would do something to raise money for the incredible team of people, surgeons and nurses who helped me live. I know that only 1% of funding for cancer research is allocated for brain tumours yet brain tumours kill nearly half of all people they affect. I am determined to raise money to help fund further research. I just feel so lucky to be here and forever grateful to the medical professionals, friends and family who saved my life.

We are fundraising for Brain Tumour Research as they are the only national charity dedicated to funding long-term, sustainable research in the UK. Please help me fund the fight. Together we will find a cure.

It costs £2740 per day to fund Brain Tumour research so hence the 274 miles and fundraising target of £274 to support 10% of this cost. Fingers crossed we might be able to support a full days research with everyone’s kindness and generosity.

Its going to be an interesting August! Wish me luck attempting to find cycling routes that only turn left, downhill! (Max is currently struggling to process turning right!) Ensuring Max wears the appropriate safety clothing and not just leopard print street wear and bugging as many people as we can to donate pennies to keep us on our bikes and tallying up the miles!

We'll be joined by lots of Friends to support this amazing cause and hope our efforts make a difference to someone else's life.

See you on the other side

Max and Kelly xxxx

Brain tumours kill more children and adults under the age of 40 than any other cancer. Just 1% of the national spend on cancer research has been allocated to this disease. We are a leading voice calling for support and action for research into what is called the last battleground against cancer.
