Athens Marathon · 10 November 2024 ·

Anyone can get Parkinson’s. It gets worse over time and there’s no cure. Yet. Funding research into the most promising treatments, we’re getting closer to a cure. Until then, we're improving life for people with Parkinson’s, and the people in their lives. Together we'll find a cure.

Story

On Sunday 10th November I will be taking part in 'The Authentic' Athens Marathon.

Held every November since 1972, the Athens Marathon is a 26.2 mile road race, inspired by and based on the legend of the Ancient Greek messenger, Pheidippides, who ran from the Battle of Marathon to Athens to announce the Greeks' victory over the Persians. It is considered one of the most iconic and difficult major marathon races in the world.

I have never taken part in a marathon before - so I thought if I am going to do one, it may as well be the original!

I am raising funds for Parkinsons UK, in support of a family member diagnosed with the disease. Any amount you can sponsor is very gratefully received. I have self-funded the entire trip so 100% of the donations made will go to Parkinsons UK.

Thank you so much for your support and encouragement.
