Story
If you thought I was done running after the Chicago marathon, you thought wrong! It is now time to take on new streets and a new charity!
Running has meant so much to me over the years. It's made me feel strong and capable through times when I have felt weak. It has also connected me with incredible people and given me the opportunity to raise money for crucial causes. Fundraising for the Berlin marathon allows me to continue both something that brings me so much joy and helps me to strive to make a world a little bit better (and stronger).
When searching for a charity to support, this time I looked to my brother for inspiration. Jon was diagnosed with Essential Thrombocythemia, a rare, chronic blood cancer in 2023. The ambiguity can be daunting, but luckily Jon is currently healthy and monitoring his blood platelets. How does this relate to this year's cause? Queue Anthony Nolan.
Anthony Nolan is a charity that researches treatments for those with blood cancers and blood disorders. They also match stem cell donors to those with blood cancers and blood disorders in need of transplants and treatments. Over the last 50 years the charity has been at the cutting edge of cell therapies and made incredible progress.
Danke Schoen for your continued support in my running and charity endeavors!!
