Paws for Pregnancy Loss 2026

Kelly Tombs is raising money for The Miscarriage Association

Paws for Pregnancy Loss 2026 · 1 March 2026 to 31 March 2026 ·

This March, we’re asking you to take on a 100km walking challenge, alongside your furry companion or on your own, and help raise vital funds for people affected by the heartbreak of pregnancy loss.

Story

On the 21st February, exactly a week ago at the time of writing this, my whole world turned upside down for a third time in just 18months, despite a glorious heartbeat at 7w3d, a private scan showed at 8w6d that heartbeat had stopped and was no more.

Again this loss required surgical management and coming round from surgery I remembered seeing a poster in the waiting room a few days before which said 100km in March fundraising for the miscarriage association, my mind decided this is what I need to do for the distraction, the focus, to help navigate this next part of the journey, Upon leaving the hospital, I grabbed the QR code from the poster and immediately went to sign up... But I encountered an issue... it’s a 100km walk - with your dog! Which we do not have! After unsuccessfully trying to convince Mathew to walk 100km on his hands and knees, in lieu of a furry friend... I reached out to Lula's parents, my very kind, very supportive friend's Scarlett and Rich. Lula, the cutest cockapoo, needed zero convincing and her parents jumped straight on board. And it was agreed, we are taking on this challenge, together but apart (as we live over 100miles from each other) - because not doing this was never an option!

I want to raise money for the miscarriage association as they have helped me 3 times over now, in 3 different ways giving me guidance and advice to navigate this part of the journey in life, without this guidance and advice things would’ve felt more confusing and less supported.

Pregnancy loss affects so many lives, and often it’s our furry companions who stay close through the hardest moments. They don’t ask questions or need explanations. They simply show up, offering comfort, routine, and unconditional love when words are hard to find.

We know how powerful that quiet support can be. Paws for Pregnancy Loss is a way to honour the role pets play in our lives, and the comfort they bring during times of loss.

By taking on this challenge and supporting the Miscarriage Association, we're helping ensure no one has to face pregnancy loss alone – and showing how even the smallest steps, taken together, can make a real difference.
