Story
Former foodbank boss and domestic abuse survivor Kelly walker to raise vital funds for charity Refuge.
Kelly has vowed to walk 162 miles in October along with other various fundraising activities to raise money for this charity very close to her heart after he ex partner received a 3 year custodial sentence in June last year following a moonlight flit after threats to her life.
Kelly is now advocating for other women and swapping her lanyard for her walking boots.
Kelly has already found brilliant sponsorship within various organisations in Doncaster and hopes to not only raise funds but awareness for other women.
Kelly said “I’m pumped to do this and it’s helping me heal knowing my story can help others escape abusive relationships. I hope to raise vital funds for this amazing life saving charity and I am so thankful for everyone’s support so far”
One in four women will experience domestic abuse at some point in their lifetime and on average one woman is killed every 5 days in England and Wales by a current or former partner.
Refuge is the largest single provider of specialist services to survivors of domestic, sexual and gender-based abuse and runs the freephone, 24-hour National Domestic Abuse Helpline that provides the first step to women escaping abuse.
By kindly sponsoring me today you are helping to save and change the lives of thousands of women and their children. Thank you
