Story
So here is the moment many of you have been waiting for. I have lost count the amount of times I've been nagged to run a marathon over the years. But it was never something I was ever going to attempt until I felt ready and at times I wasn't sure that would ever happen....BUT now the time has come!
As most of you will know i suffer from Addisons Disease, which luckily for me is kept stable and under control with medication. However, there is no doubt, this will be a test on my body. So those of you who think it will be a piece of cake for me, it really won't. Just because I do a lot of exercise does not mean I can automatically run 26.2 miles!
This is going to take a lot of mental grit and determination and one hell of a lot of training! It's twice as far as I've ever run before. I've got to learn about fuelling, hydration, hitting the wall, recovery as well as managing my medication but I am determined to do this and earn the medal of all medals!
I am running the 26.2 miles in memory of Steve Holloway. A lovely friend that we sadly lost to cancer earlier this year. Steve would always be there to cheer us on at races so it seemed a fitting tribute to run this in his memory.
Steve spent his final weeks in Sue Ryder Duchess of Kent Hospice. Fiona was so grateful for the care and support that both her and Steve received during this time.
Sue Ryder supports people through the most difficult times of their lives. Whether that’s a terminal illness, the loss of a loved one or a neurological condition – they’re there when it matters. Their doctors, nurses and carers give people the compassion and expert care they need to help them live the best life they possibly can.
Therefore I would be really grateful if you could dig deep and help me raise as much money as possible for this worthy cause. Every donation I receive will spur me on in the cold, dark, wet months of training ahead.. oh wait it seems they are already here!
Thank you so much x
