D-Day 82
Campaign by RMA - The Royal Marines Charity (RCN 1134205)
On the 82nd Anniversary of the Normandy Landings, we'll honour the bravery and sacrifice of the D-Day Generation to raise funds for RMA-The Royal Marine Charity.

Story

On 6th June, I'll be leading a large party on a 22km commemorative yomp (walk) from Gold Beach at Asnelles to the Normandy fishing village of Port-en-Bessin – following in the footsteps of 47 (Royal Marine) Commando's epic D-Day mission "Operation Aubery" to capture Port-en-Bessin and link up with US forces.

In achieving their objectives against all odds, 46 men of the commando had lost their lives, while another 65 were wounded, 6 captured and 28 missing – a casualty rate of around 35 per cent. Many French civilians lost their lives too and of course many of the enemy. they

I do not come from a military background and have no direct links to those who took part in the operation. However, like many others who take part, I feel compelled to recognise the extraordinary achievements of the young men of 47 Commando and to not to forget all those who have given their lives or suffered for our freedom.

Any small support. you can give, will go toward the excellent work of RMA - the Royal Marines Charity will be greatly appreciated.

Many thanks.
