Story
📢 Unfortunately, Ken's Camino has come to an end. 📢
In the first four days of our challenge, we walked from St Jean Pied de Port in France, across the Pyrenees to the city of Pamplona - about 70 kilometres. But the price was high and the evidence from our early climbs indisputable. We have to look after our health first, and therefore, have had to call off the trek.

On April 1st 2026, SOFII’s co-founder and his partner Ginny are heading back to Spain to conquer the Camino de Santiago. Despite recent health challenges and memories of an exhausting first trek, their training has already begun.
And, let’s be honest, this 500-mile route is not a challenge anyone would want to do without some serious preparation.
The Camino de Santiago is a difficult, yet well-trodden path. Throughout the Middle Ages, thousands walked from their homes to make their pilgrimage to Santiago de Compostela. This pilgrim’s path, along very challenging terrain, paved the way for many different routes across Europe – all coming together to arrive in the city surrounding the Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela.
Ken and Ginny know first-hand how difficult this trek is.
In 2021, they overcame many obstacles when attempting this epic journey. But Ken and Ginny persevered and completed the pilgrimage. Their six-week hike across Spain raised over £20,000 for small charity, The SOFII Foundation (www.sofii.org).
Please, can you give a kind gift to help Ken top that fundraising total this year? Your support would mean so much to Ken as he takes on ‘Parte Dos’ and returns to the Camino in April 2026.
At 75, he’s five years older (sorry Ken!), and the memories of those brutal blisters still haunt him. But your kind donation to SOFII will raise his spirits AND help support the thousands of fundraisers around the world who rely on SOFII for inspiration.
Please, if you can, make a kind gift today. Then stay tuned to this page and our socials (or sign up to SOFII emails), for more updates as our intrepid pair continue training, fundraising and trekking!
Will Ken and Ginny’s experience on this route help or hinder their success? Only time will tell...
