Story
For the last 13 years, Team Cy-Run and Cathcart Pedallers have been raising money for a number of different charities. It kind of works like this. Frank Gilroy and Chris Hanlon have a mad idea of a challenge. They put it out there to see if anyone is daft enough to say "aye, ok I 'll join you". And there is always one. Then we get on with it.
Across the years there have been many epic adventures: A relay run from Glasgow to London rounded off with the London Marathon; The three peaks challenge and Stirling marathon in 24 hours; A mighty duathlon combining a cycle from Glasgow to Edinburgh Marathon start line; Ultra Running by Numbers - The 6 Lochs, The 5 Ferrys, the 3 Bridges, the 3 Castles, the 3 Palaces. 2025 was meant to be the Last Hurrah. A 50km forest trail run in the Cairngorms.
But having had the summer to think about it, the team have decided to bow out the way we bowed in. In 2012 Team Cy-Runs' first adventure was a 6 day cycle from Glasgow to London. And on the 7th day, 4 of the team ran the London Marathon. 14 years later, older, wider, and with the safety net of free bus passes and borrowed e-bikes (never), we have decided to go again. We might go down the West Coast this time but the challenge will be the same. Cycle from Glasgow to London over 6 days and run the marathon when we get there. And after that, we enjoy a beer and hang up the boots for good.
Macmillan Cancer Support is the charity of choice this time around and there is no finer charity to bow out with.
If you can find some room for a wee donation to a worthy cause, we will be forever grateful.
