Story

My name is Ally Kirtley and as part of my research for my Agricultural Economics PhD at The University of Kent, I have been working with rural cocoa producing communities in Ghana. My research identifies how receptive communities are to sustainable farming innovations and how important education is to the take-up. The experience has reavealed to me how far these communities can benefit from the educational resources we often take for granted.

This fundraiser is to provide Little Libraries to four community hubs in the Eastern region of Ghana who participated in my study. These little libraries will target the needs of the entire community with books catered towards children of primary and secondary school age as well as farmers and elders who all play their part in the development of their community. Little libraries will improve children's access to further education, improve farming outcomes and mitigate climate change in this region.
