Story
Hi, I’m Kerri! I’m a wife, midwife and, most importantly, mummy to two beautiful little girls.
This May, for Mental Health Awareness Month, I’m raising money for a charity very close to my heart: The Parent Rooms.
The past four years have been both the most amazing and the most difficult of my life. After having my first daughter, I experienced postpartum anxiety and depression. After my second, it worsened. A while back, I reached breaking point where I had to take time off work.
Raising two young children (who both hate sleep), working full-time in a high-pressure job, and juggling life with a husband who also works shifts — it all became too much. I felt overwhelmed, anxious, low, and completely lost. Despite having a loving support network, I felt incredibly alone, like no one truly understood what I was going through.
Then I found The Parent Rooms.
This charity-run community in Belfast supports parents struggling with their mental health — led by people who have been there themselves. They offer wellbeing courses, counselling, activities, and most importantly, a safe space to connect, share, and heal. A place where you don’t have to explain — because they just get it.
The Parent Rooms have helped me begin to put myself back together, slowly, day by day. I’m not “fixed,” but I’m getting there — and that’s something that 6 months ago felt impossible.
This incredible support is only possible through fundraising. So this May, I’m asking for your help. I aim to walk at least 10,000 steps a day every day this month- rain, hail or shine! Every donation will go towards helping other parents feel less alone, find support, and begin their own journey back to themselves.
Thank you to everyone in the Parent Rooms for what they do every day, I know I speak on behalf of many amazing women who would still be very lost without your services.
Thank you to my amazing family and friends who have supported me through my darkest days.
And Thank you so much to those who choose to donate, for your support 💛
Much love,
Kerri x
