Colchester Half Marathon 2025 · 16 March 2025 ·

We are a group of parents, other family members and staff from Highwoods Community Primary School in Colchester. We are a registered charity, and run events for our school community with the aim of providing a fun event for our children, along with raising funds for the school via the PTA charity. Examples of events we run are a Magic Show, a Christmas Disco, a Summer Fair, a Bake Off competition and Mothers Day/Fathers Day sales. In these times of cuts in school funding support from the PTA is more important than ever. We aim to fund equipment, works and events which will benefit all the children. Examples of our spending include funding coaches to take all of the children to the Christmas pantomime so parents only need to buy theatre tickets. We fund a yearly French Workshop. In recent years we have funded refurbishment and book purchases for both school libraries. We have also funded activity sheds around the school field and play equipment to be used in them. Our next fundraising target is to fund a new climbing frame, as the current one only allows a small number of children to use it. This should promote more enjoyment and activity for our children at break and lunchtimes.

Story

We will be running the Colchester half marathon on Sunday 16th March to raise money for Highwoods primary. Our 2025 team is:

🌟 Mrs Dixey is a LSA in year one. This will be her 1st Colchester half marathon.

🌟 Kerrie Lear is a member of the PTA and is mum to a child in year 6. This will be her 3rd Colchester half marathon.

🌟 Evaldas is a dad to three children in years 2 and reception. It will be his first half marathon.

🌟 Ari Velusamy is dad to a child in year 3.

🌟 Philip Wood is a dad to a child in year 2.

🌟 Brian Rogers is a dad to a child in year 5. He has ran the Colchester half marathon before.
