Story
I’m living with metastatic breast cancer. The effect of this causes me problems every single day. This disease will severely shorten my life and has already caused a huge decrease in my quality of life. Exercise has been a massive part of my life and how I see/saw myself. Coming to terms with my reduction in ability and mobility has been incredibly hard. In fact, I’ll never come to terms with it. It’s too hard. Severn Hospice provides me with amazing care to help me try and get busy living rather than get busy dying. I use their counseling service, advanced care planning nurses and I have a palliative care Dr here too. She takes care of my pain medications and others things to help cope with side effects of treatment.
Please help me help them to continue their incredible support.
Every day, our nurses and care teams walk an average of 10,000 steps while providing the specialist support that means so much to local people who need it. None of this would happen without our supporters.
This autumn, we’re asking our supporters to walk in our nurses’ shoes by taking 300,000 steps in the month of September – or by setting their own step goal – while raising vital funds to support local people living with incurable illness.
All our care is given free of charge, but it’s not without cost. We must raise £2 for every £3 we spend, and fundraisers play a crucial role in making this possible. Every step taken and pound raised will help local people when they need it most – it’s because you care that we can.
