Story
In 2015, my dad was diagnosed with a pituitary tumour which required medical intervention and ongoing support from the endocrinology department at Salford Royal Hospital. Whilst undergoing treatment he was introduced by his Consultant to the Pituitary Foundation as a source of invaluable information for persons suffering similar issues and they were able to provide a wealth of information to reassure and guide him through the process.
It is anticipated that there are around 70,000 people with a pituitary condition in the UK. To meet the need for information and support, the Pituitary Foundation was set up and registered as a charity in 1996. They are the UK's leading charity in supporting persons affected with disorders of the pituitary gland such as Acromegaly, Cushing's disease, Prolactinoma, Diabetes Insipidus and Hypopituitarism.
Not withstanding the excellent care and support he received from the staff at Salford Royal Hospital for which we are eternally grateful, I wanted to help the Pituitary Foundation to continue their great work in supporting pituitary patients and raising the awareness of the condition in the medical profession and the general public.
I hope that you are able to support me in my challenge to complete the 200mile Peak District Boundary walk throughout the Spring/Summer 2023. If you can’t support financially at this time, but would like to join me for a section of the walk or help with tag teaming cars, your support would be greatly appreciated!
