The Great North Run is the world’s biggest half marathon, with more than 57,000 runners pounding the streets of Newcastle. The 13.1-mile course runs from Newcastle upon Tyne to South Shields and attracts many world-class athletes.

Story

We are fundraising for CRY (Cardiac Risk in the Young) in memory of our cousin Gavin, who tragically lost his life to cardiac arrest at the age of 43. As a family, we are running the Great North Run 2026. Running this race is our way of honouring his life, his strength, and the love he gave to everyone who knew him. Every mile is for him.

CRY is a charity dedicated to preventing sudden cardiac deaths in young people through screening, research, and support, as every week in the UK at least 12 apparently fit and healthy young people die from undiagnosed cardiac conditions.

By supporting CRY, we can help reduce the frequency of young sudden cardiac death by promoting good practice, appropriate screening, and protecting the cardiac health of young people.

Your donation will help save lives and make a lasting difference. You can learn more about CRY’s work at www.c-r-y.org.uk.
