Story

As many of you will know, I lost my first husband Nicky to bowel (appendix) cancer in 2015, when Nicky was just 34 and our gorgeous son Ethan was only 4 years old.

This November, I will be crocheting a star each day in memory of Nicky and other friends and relatives of friends who have been affected by bowel cancer, as part of Bowel Cancer UK’s November knit/crochet challenge. Please let me know if you would like one of them for your Christmas tree! I do not want money for them, but sponsorship is always welcome!

Bowel cancer is the UK's second biggest cancer killer. Every 12 minutes someone is diagnosed with bowel cancer. That’s around 44,000 people every year, and 120 people every day. We're determined to change that.

Bowel Cancer UK is the UK's leading bowel cancer charity and we're determined to save lives and improve the quality of life of everyone affected by bowel cancer. Our vision is a future where nobody dies of bowel cancer, particularly those who are so young, with so much living still to do, but we can't achieve this alone.

The funds raised from Bowel Cancer UK's November knit/crochet challenge will help us to provide support and information to patients and their families, enable us to fund and support research into bowel cancer and allow us to campaign for early diagnosis and best treatment and care for all.

Thank you.
