Story
At the end of January 2025 I gave birth to a beautiful sleeping baby boy, Ethan. A week before his birth my waters broke prematurely, a complication called Preterm Premature Rupture of Membranes.
Ethan should have been born in early June and I can think of no better way to commemorate his memory than by doing something outrageous, so I am skydiving on Saturday 21st June 🪂
I’m doing this to raise money to donate to Abigails Footsteps, a wonderful Charity that supports bereaved families, whilst changing the way families are cared for by Hospitals and training staff on how to care for grieving parents. Sadly, stillbirths and neo-natal death occur daily, yet many Hospitals are not equipped to deal with the parental care needed, they have inadequate facilities and staff receive little to no bereavement training.
Abigail's Footsteps greatest contribution as a Charity has been the creation and funding of the Abi Cooling cot - which allows parents valuable time to spend with their baby before saying goodbye. I was beyond fortunate and so grateful that I had access to a cooling cot as it meant I could keep Ethan next to me for days while recovering in Hospital before having to say goodbye.
Money raised will go towards the construction of a new cold cot in Ethan’s name and to support the invaluable work the Charity does to support bereaved families.
I would love to live in a world where no one ever has to experience the loss of a baby but the reality is many more families will. This new cot will give the gift of time - to bond, grieve and say goodbye. And that is priceless.
For Ethan, and every angel baby 👼
If not with him, for him 🤍
Abigail's Footsteps help in many ways, from creating sympathetic space for parents in hospitals, to providing much needed equipment for parents to spend longer with their babies and bereavement training for midwives, as many have never received any bereavement training.
Please help us raise vital funds by supporting our team of brave skydivers, whether you give a little or a lot it makes a huge difference. Thank you to everyone that has donated so far.
