Story
I am taking on an 80‑mile virtual walking challenge across the Galápagos over the next three months, and I am doing it to raise funds for SALT South West (Sexual Abuse Listening Therapy) — a charity whose support has been profoundly significant in my own life.
SALT offered me a place of safety at a time when I needed it most. Their listeners helped me understand the impact of trauma, make sense of my responses, and begin to rebuild with clarity and compassion. What they provide is not only skilled and gentle, but offered entirely free of charge to survivors.
For forty years, SALT has served adults in Plymouth and the surrounding areas who are living with the effects of childhood sexual abuse. They are now preparing for a major relaunch in 2026, introducing a renewed program that includes assessments, sixteen weekly sessions combining group skills and individual listening, and optional weekend workshops. This structure is designed to offer survivors a deeper, more supported pathway through healing.
To continue offering this vital service at no cost, SALT must raise £85,000 over the coming year. This funding covers trained listeners, the upkeep of their premises, ongoing team development, and the creation of trauma‑informed training for others. Every contribution, no matter the size, directly supports survivors who are waiting for the same safety and understanding that made such a difference to me.
Thank you for visiting my JustGiving page and for considering a donation to SALT South West.
