Kerry and Eleanor's Fundraiser for Temwa

Kerry Johnstone is raising money for Temwa

Walking 30km of the coast path from Lulworth Cove to Swanage · 27 September 2025

Founded in 2003, Temwa is a Bristol based charity whose mission is to develop self-sufficient communities in hard-to-reach areas of northern Malawi – itself the third poorest country in the world. We serve the communities of Nkhata Bay North, a very remote area and home to around 55,000 people. Our aim is to provide an infrastructure to support families in this region facing financial and humanitarian hardship. We accomplish this by implementing programmes in health, education, agriculture and forestry. All of our projects are community-driven meaning that local communities are actively involved in the design and implementation of the projects. We deliver our programmes by our in-country Temwa team, all of them nationals with many from the local area, as such they have a deep local and operational knowledge of the needs of Nkhata Bay North.

Story

Eleanor and I are going on a big walk ! We are doing this with a small group of other Temwa supporters to raise money for communities in Northern Malawi.

I work for Temwa and am proud of the great things Temwa has achieved over the last year on a tight budget, including:

- bringing safe water and improved sanitation to 3 villages

- supporting thousands of farming households take up sustainable practices to increase yields and adapt to climate change

- establishing 30 well functioning pre-schools to help young kids be better prepared for primary school

- addressing major challenges around sexual and reproductive health focused on young people

We want to keep doing great things, but need the funds to do it !

Please help us raise as much money as possible:)
