Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I have been here before and this should have happened in 2023 but unfortunately due to injury I had to withdraw. My body has healed and it's now time to take my place in the London Marathon 2025 with the British Dyslexia Association!!

This is a huge challenge for me and I'm determined to do it. Let me tell you why ....

My 'why' is family .. at 17 my son was diagnosed with dyslexia after many years of struggles. The diagnosis is a huge relief for all of us and we have found ways to support him the best we can.

Many people think dyslexia is just about struggling with reading and writing ... This is not true. Dyslexia also involves struggles with memory, processing information, speed, direction, speaking, listening, organisation and planning. This is the hidden side of dyslexia and the side that is often forgotten but can be just as overwhelming as struggles with reading and writing. For me, a huge part of my London Marathon campaign is raising awareness of the hidden side of dyslexia and I aim to do this with social media posts and talking to people about dyslexia.

The British Dyslexia Association help families on the journey to diagnosis, through assessment and the journey from diagnosis. They provide valuable information, tips and reassurance to families - both parents and children. They also provide webinars to help give further support.

10% of the population have dyslexia and with the help of the British Dyslexia Association the future is looking brighter for people with dyslexia and those on a journey to diagnosis.

My fundraising will involve quiz nights, fundraising sales, motivational/memory miles ... and more!

If you have any questions about my fundraising or the British Dyslexia Association, please just ask me!
