Story
The Salvation Army is a Christian Church & registered Charity working in 130 countries worldwide and is one of the largest and most diverse providers of social welfare in the world.
The Salvation Army has been active in Kettering for over 140 years both as a thriving Christian church and as a hub for community support. The focus on community support through a youth club, food bank, warm space, breakfast and lunch clubs and family meetings during the week has never been stronger. This is underpinned by the practical and prayerful support of the wider church family that meets every Sunday for Worship.
The Corps moved to the current suite of Victorian buildings on the corner of Rockingham Road and Regent Street in the 1970s. Maintaining the buildings has become an increasing struggle in recent years and we are now at the point where a complete refurbishment, especially of the plumbing, drainage and electrics, is urgently needed. The estimated cost of the work needed is around £3m which is being supported by The Salvation Army nationally and regionally.
The Kettering Citadel church family will be looking to raise some of the money needed through their own time and talents, but with such are large sum required we also need to reach out to the wider community for support. That is the purpose of this Just Giving page – to ensure those who can give, and support the work that we do, are able to do so.
We are planning a series of events and activities over the next year so watch out for adverts on social media and in the local press.
Thank you for your support.
