Running the Edinburgh Half Marathon for AIH Support
On the 24th of May, I’ll be taking on the Edinburgh Half Marathon. While 13.1 miles is a personal challenge, the reason I’m running goes back much further than my training plan.
Losing my Mum, Mandy Brown, in 2002 due to complications from an autoimmune disorder led me to find, and support, AIH Support, a charity dedicated to those affected by Autoimmune Hepatitis (AIH). What makes this organisation so special is that it is entirely patient-led and volunteer-run. They are driven by people who live with the condition themselves, and every penny raised goes directly toward providing vital information, peer support, and representing patients in medical research. In a world of large charities, AIH Support is a small but mighty lifeline for the 10,000 people in the UK living with this rare condition.
If you can donate – no matter how small the amount – it will go an incredibly long way with a charity like this. Thank you so much for your support and helping me honour the memory of my Mum, Mandy.
