MND Scotland is the only Scottish charity dedicated to providing care and support to individuals affected by Motor Neuron Disease (MND). This organization not only offers practical, financial, and emotional assistance but also funds vital research aimed at finding a cure for this devastating condition.

In July 2025 my Dad was diagnosed with MND after a 9 months of symptoms that we put down to a stroke but after extensive tests, our fears were confirmed. MND leaves the suffer with a myriad of issues, including muscle loss, slower movement, strength loss, speech loss, dietry issues (including in many cases the movement to a minced, liquid or at worst a feeding tube being installed) all the while the mind remians fully in tact Dad was given 6 months to live in mid February.

Unfortunately due to the progress of his condition, he was only with us for 10 more days, passing away on Feb 28th in the early hours of that morning. The small comfort being that Dad is no longer suffering.

I've decided to do the Hairy @ EMF. This entails the 5K, 10K, Half & Full Marathons over the courseof the weekend of May 23rd & 24th 2026 in memory of Dad and to help raise vital funds to help this amazing charity and others struggling against this disease.
