Story
Hello,
I am embarking on my 3rd half marathon in Moshi, Tanzania - hopefully with an improved time! My run is to raise much needed funds for the charity which is close to my heart 'Hope Home Trust'.
As many of you will know, my late wife / my sons' Mum was Tanzanian, Leah sadly died in 2018. Leah was priviledged to have a good education in Tanzania, education and the access to education is something that she put huge value on - initially training to become a teacher in Tanzania, she taught classses of 70 plus children - wow!
Hope Home, is an orphanage home for around 30 children in Moshi, Tanzania. The orphanage was founded by Mama Esta in 2006. It is funded solely by a very small UK charity (with no paid staff), Hope Home Trust.
Hope Home provides, stable housing and a home enviroment for the children, these children attend local English Medium schools with the objective to giving them a great education which will lead to their growth and career opportunities - 7 of the Hope Home family are now at University. The home is commited to giving each child who lives with them the best possible opportunities that they can provide, Neema a delightful 10 year old very sadly has a terminal brain tumour, she is loved and recieves an education so she can live her best life.
The home generate some funds by running a nursery school which is a valuable comminty project and provides financial income.
The charity website can be found here, along with their latest newsletter
For context, £250 pays for one child to attend English Medium school for 6 months
