Story
As I prepare to run my fourth half marathon at the Brentwood Half Marathon on March 22, 2026, I reflect on the journey that has brought me here. Having completed my last three marathons in Moshi, Tanzania, this event holds a special significance for me. I am not only running for personal fulfillment but also to raise vital funds for a charity that is very close to my heart: Hope Home Trust.
Hope Home Trust supports a small orphanage in Tanzania, East Africa, where up to 30 children find a loving home when their family circumstances leave them homeless. Many of you know my deep connections to Tanzania through my late wife and our children's late mother. The work that HHT does is transformative; they provide each child with a place in a private school, which is crucial given the under-resourced government schools in Tanzania that often have up to 60 children per class. Private education offers these children the opportunity to learn in English and has enabled many of them to pursue higher education, breaking the cycle of poverty.
If I raise £500 this can cover an entire school year in private education for one child. As I lace up my running shoes for this marathon, I ask for your support—whether it be financial contributions, words of encouragement, or prayers. Your generosity can make a significant difference in the lives of these children who deserve every chance at success.
