We raise funds to support children & families at the Paediatric, Ayrshire Maternity & Neonatal Units at Crosshouse Hospital and at Rainbow House. We fund medical equipment, research, play programmes and family support services to ensure that our young patients receive the best possible care and experience.

Story

Each year more than 25,000 babies, children and young people from across Ayrshire require treatment in hospital. With the help of communities in Ayrshire & Arran, Crosshouse Children's Fund raises vital funds to help young patients and their families have the best possible hospital experiences.

By funding pioneering medical equipment and research, supporting families, supporting every child through play, providing bereavement support, and providing practical and emotional support to staff, children receive the extra special care they deserve.

I've decided to take on my biggest challenge I've ever faced in my life by tackling the 215mile GB Ultras Race Across Scotland in August. This will take me past my limits both physically and mentally with a high drop out rate there is no guarantee I will finish. What I will guarantee though is I will give my absolute all in this race and knowing now that I am raising funds for a charity that means a lot to me will push me on even more.

The race itself is 215 miles starting on the South West coast in Portpatrick and crosses the whole of Scotland ending in Cockburnspath on the East coast. I have 100 hours to complete it if I am still standing. The course follows the Southern Upland Way which takes in valleys, crossing and mountains.

I will be specifically raising for the wellbeing fund. This has been set up to support hospital families and families in the community who have children with complex and long term health conditions financially and to ease the burden of the cost of living crisis.

This wellbeing fund and all monies I raise will help ranging from food parcels, help for parents and carers who need practical and financial support to help with the costs often associated with having a child in hospital such as baby supplies, cost of taxis / transport when their babies are in longer term. Families rely more and more on the fund just to support pregnancy / caring for their new arrivals and many would struggle without the funds help.

I will use this page to post my progress with training and of course donations. This is a chance to use something like this for something good. I hope you will support me in any way you can think of as when the times comes this is what will spur me on.
