Kayaking and walking

Since 2012 we have seen an increase of over 235% in the amount of people seeking our support. People of all ages, their families, friends and carers. Our vision is quite simply to make Jersey a more dementia friendly island where everyone is understood, welcomed and supported.

Story

I start my 70th year this summer and in a beautiful coincidence there are 70 counties in England and Wales. So in 70 days, over the start of my 70th year, I plan to walk to the highest point and kayak 10 nautical miles in each county. I start on the 6th July outside Toby's house in Flushing in Cornwall and finish on top of Snowdon (Yr Wyddfa) on the 14th September.

Both of my parents received support from Dementia Jersey, in the later stages of their lives, one of my reasons for supporting this Jersey charity.

Toby was our nephew, an inspirational person, who died in 2022 as a consequence of Fanconi Anaemia, a rare, life-limiting genetic disorder. So I am also raising funds for Fanconi Hope through a different page. A local and a national charity.

Less than 7 weeks to go until the start. Training is progressing well, I am managing to get plenty of kayaking and walking in. The planning is almost complete, with my daily schedule finished.

Thank you for your support.
