Don’t Trek Back in Anger: Kev's 100km Wadi Rum trek and Jabal Umm ad Dami climb for Nugent

What’s the Story, Wadi Glory?
Well, having barely survived Nugent's 100km Sahara Trek in November 2023, it would be easy to never sign up for a challenge again.....however, life isn't easy for many people and we should step up, and out of our comfort zone, to support others when we are able to.
This time, Nugent have set their most extreme challenge to date, taking place from February 27th 2027 to March 6th 2027 - from Woolly Sheep to Wadi Camel!!:
- 100km through the Mars-like landscapes of Jordan's Wadi Rum desert
- Climb Jabal Um ad Dami, the highest peak in Jordan at 1,854m (the highest peak in the UK is Ben Nevis at 1,345m)
Why should you donate?
Well, besides ensuring I survive the desert heat and maybe encounter a friendly camel or two, your support will directly impact Nugent's initiatives, helping them continue their amazing work in support of vulnerable individuals.
Nugent are a fantastic social care charity with a vision that 'Together, provide a lifelong pathway of support for individuals and communities in need'. Its exciting Imagine Our World strategic plan sets out the following priorities:
- Accommodation – Providing safe spaces for those in need
- Employability – Empowering people with skills and resources to secure meaningful employment
- Poverty Alleviation – Addressing all forms of poverty, including food, hygiene, and financial hardship
- Quality of Life – Supporting healthy, fulfilling lives for the people we support and our colleagues
- Making Memories – Creating joyful experiences that break cycles of adversity and help people thrive

So, whether you're donating to motivate me up that mountain or because you want to see if I can survive the desert without melting like an ice cube, every pound counts!
Let's make a difference together - because no one should face challenges alone, especially not with sand in their shoes.
Thank you for your support, your donations, and your sense of humour (because laughing through blisters is definitely a skill).
Let's do this! 💪

Nugent are a not-for-profit organisation based in Liverpool, established since 1881. We have a proven history of adapting what we do to meet the needs of the communities we serve. As a leading voice in the care sector, we look to improve health, opportunity, quality of life, and levels of achievement, whilst reducing poverty and increasing safety for all.
We operate across the North West, predominantly in the Liverpool City region, offering a diverse range of support for adults and children. Our children’s provisions include residential homes, a secure facility, a step-down home and SEMH School. Our adult’s provisions include dispersed homelessness accommodation, floating support provided in the community and supported living provided at home. We also provide adult residential homes including a specialist acquired brain injury, a home for those living with dementia, and a home supporting Mental Health needs. We also offer adoption support services working in partnership with local authorities across the UK.
To reach communities beyond these provisions we have established an initiative called Our Future Now, which actively engages in a range of fundraising and community-based activities. These efforts support wider unmet needs across the Liverpool City Region and beyond.
