London to Ghent to Rotterdam · 20 September 2024

Nearly half of all refugees are children and more than ever before are unaccompanied, often embarking on long and dangerous journeys to find a safe place to call home. We help child refugees access their right to reach safety, then support their first steps to rebuilding their lives.

Story

I am cycling over 400km the week beginning 15 September 2024 from London to Ghent to Rotterdam in order to attend the iPRES2024 conference and fundraise for Safe Passage.

My route is:

Sunday 15 September London to Dover (120 km)

Monday 16 September Dunkirk to Deinze via Kemmelberg (130km)

Tuesday 17 September Deinze to Ghent (20km)

Tuesday 17-Thursday 19 September - attend the conference in Ghent

Thursday 19 September - Ghent to Rotterdam (165km) and then ferry to Hull and train home to Stockport

I’m the Director of Kazky - a United Kingdom based consultancy specialising in archives, libraries and heritage. Both myself and my fellow Director, Larysa Bolton, are third generation descendants of refugees. We are fundraising for Safe Passage who fight for a compassionate refugee system, where child refugees and their loved ones are safe and reunited.
