Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.
Amyloidosis is a rare disease, which causes abnormal proteins to accumulate as ‘amyloid deposits’ in body tissues and organs.
Earlier this year, it took the life of a member of Kevin’s family. Daphne was also a friend to me and several others in the Kevin’s Rambles group. This walk is something that we would like to do in memory of our friend. It is just a mile a day – not a great distance but a small commitment in return for any amount you might feel able to donate. All group members who want to take part in the challenge will share this same page as it is a collective fundraiser.
Thank you for reading and we appreciate even the smallest of donations. As they say – “Every little helps!” :) xx
Participants: Kevin Hall, Steve Musco, Rodney Ralph, Cynthia Walder, Jessica Huggett
A message from Jessica, Daphne's daughter
Thank you for arranging this in memory of my beautiful mum.
Many of you may know Mum was diagnosed with AL Amyloidosis just before I got married in April 2023. I feel so blessed she was well enough to be part of my special day. After extensive treatment, many complications, and many hospital stays in January this year her body gave up the fight.
She spent her working life looking after and caring for children. Either in a playgroup, as a childminder, or at a pre school. And of course her own 3 children. She gave so much so this is a great opportunity to give something back in her memory.
If you could make a donation we’d be very grateful. ❤️
I appreciate money might be a little tight with Christmas approaching but every little helps.
Amyloidosis is a rare but series condition that is often overlooked, leading to late diagnosis and unnecessary suffering. Increased awareness, funding for research, and enhanced support for patients are urgently needed to improve outcomes and save lives.
