We, at Kew Cricket Club are kicking off what we hope will be a long-standing tradition: a glorious evening each year where we eat too much, laugh a lot, and raise money for a brilliant cause. This year, we’re supporting the Sivan Arul Foundation, a charity doing incredible work for vulnerable children and families in Sri Lanka. One very close to our hearts as it is run by our very own Suren Sornalingam. Think of it as doing good while eating well. Win-win.

The Sivan Arul Foundation, founded in 2008, supports some of the most disadvantaged communities in Sri Lanka . Particularly in the North and East of the island, where many families are still living with the long-term impact of civil war, poverty and displacement.

Through a range of grassroots initiatives, the foundation provides:

​•​Safe children’s homes offering food, shelter, education and care

​•​School and university sponsorships for children from low-income households

​•​Food relief and medical support for families in crisis

​•​Women’s empowerment and livelihoods programmes
