KG Salon is proud to announce that we will be hosting a special fundraiser to raise money for Brain Tumour Research. This is in memory of a remarkable young boy named Gorgeous George, who many of you will have known from Barton Le Clay.
George, a beloved middle child, was an incredible individual who brought joy and laughter to everyone he encountered. Known affectionately as "Gorgeous George" since the day he was born on 15th November 2008, his warm personality and determination inspired those around him. Tragically, in April 2021, George began experiencing excruciating headaches and vomiting, which were initially mistaken for migraines. After weeks of medical appointments and tests, George was diagnosed with a 5cm Glioblastoma brain tumour.
Throughout his journey, George displayed immense strength and resilience. He underwent a 10-hour brain surgery, followed by chemotherapy and radiotherapy, all while maintaining his infectious smile, despite the challenges he faced. Sadly, George's tumour proved to be highly aggressive, and on 12th April 2022, beloved and adored son, Gorgeous George passed away at the age of 13, leaving a void in his family's lives that can never be filled.
To honor George's memory and continue the fight against brain tumours, we are organising an Ear Piercing Marathon as a fundraiser. From 25th July to 1st September, we invite all our valued clients, friends and family to visit the salon for any ear piercing service.
For every ear piercing we perform during this period, a portion of the proceeds will be donated to Brain Tumour Research.
Together, we can make a meaningful difference and support efforts to find a cure for this devastating disease.
A message from George's incredible mum, Louise Fox:"Our lives will never be the same, we are absolutely shattered and can only try and get through each day. We have decided to continue to fight, in George’s memory as until a cure is found then more families are facing this news every single day – we never ever thought this would happen to us, George was so healthy and happy. We as a family are campaigning, as historically only 1% of cancer research funding goes towards Brain Tumour Research, yet it’s the biggest killing cancer of our children. We literally had no idea until we were in the middle of this nightmare how bad it is. We will continue to fight so that George’s life isn’t in vain."
George's story has opened our eyes to this sobering reality, and we are committed to join Louise and her family in the fight for change, in the effort to stop other families enduring such heartbreak.
Wether you participating in our Ear Piercing Marathon or want to donate what you can and share George's story, you can directly contribute to the advancement of vital research and help us honor George's memory in a meaningful way here.
Together, we can raise awareness and funds that will bring us closer to a cure, offering hope to countless families facing similar challenges.
We sincerely thank you for your ongoing support. Together, let's make a difference in the lives of those affected by brain tumours. If you have any questions or would like to learn more about the fundraiser, please don't hesitate to reach out to us. We look forward to your participation and joining forces to support Brain Tumour Research.
