As a Sudanese national, my heart breaks to see the devastation caused by the ongoing war in Sudan. Millions are suffering, and the need for urgent assistance is overwhelming.

On 18th of May 2025, I will run the Hackney Half Marathon to raise funds for Doctors Without Borders. Every step I take will be dedicated to the millions of families struggling to survive.

Currently, 17.7 million people face acute hunger, with 4.9 million on the brink of famine. 8.6 million people are displaced, including 6.6 million within Sudan and 1.8 million who have fled to neighboring countries. Nearly 4 million children are displaced, making this the world’s largest child displacement crisis.

Essential health systems, schools, and basic services have been destroyed, leaving millions without access to medical care, clean water, or shelter.

Médecins Sans Frontières / Doctors Without Borders (MSF) is at the forefront of providing life-saving medical care in Sudan. They are:

Operating in 11 out of 18 states with over 1,400 staff and 230 international workers.

Supporting hospitals, clinics, mobile health sites, and community health centers.

Delivering vital services, including emergency care and trauma surgery for war injuries, maternal and pediatric health care, malnutrition screening and treatment for children and pregnant mothers, vaccination campaigns to prevent cholera, measles, and other outbreaks, and restoring clean water and sanitation in displaced communities.
