Story
This September, I’ll be taking on the Test Way Walk 2026 to support Wessex Cancer Support, our local cancer support charity.
Anyone who knows me knows that mental health is something very important to me. It’s not something that’s talked about much, but it’s especially about the impact illness can have on mental health, including the families, as well as the physical effects. A cancer diagnosis doesn’t just affect the person physically; it affects their mental wellbeing, their families, their everyday lives and the people around them too.
I’ve lost family to cancer, I’ve had family lose loved ones to cancer, I’ve had friends lose family to cancer, and I’ve nearly lost friends and family to it too. It’s something that has always been around in life and, sadly, probably always will be.
I chose Wessex Cancer Support because they support people across Hampshire, Dorset and the Isle of Wight, providing help such as support groups, home help, therapy, mental health support and support with everyday living and much much more!
Just to be transparent, donations are processed through the Rotary Club of Romsey Test Trust Fund as part of the Walk the Test Way arrangements. 80% of funds raised will go to Wessex Cancer Support, with the remaining 20% supporting Rotary’s charitable activities.
I’m definitely not a runner anymore and my fitness is pretty much non-existent, so I’ve chosen the 8-mile walk - also if you know me you know why I chose 8😂😂👱🏻♂️
Any support, donations or encouragement would mean so much. Thank you ❤️
